New CREEP teaser

The witchy duo of Lauren Flax and Lauren Dillard have put up a new teaser for their project CREEP. Seems like “Intro” is clips from a bunch of different songs from the record, but the part that stands out the most is the voice of Romy Madley Croft of The xx! I’m excited for the CREEP record, but I’m double excited to hear the song that features her on vocals. No word yet on when we can expect the record but it will be released by Triangle Records presumably sometime this year.

Check out the latest CREEP teaser (along with an older one) and the Nosaj Thing remix of The xx’s “Islands”.

xxxo

The first single from M.I.A’s upcoming record was played earlier today on the BBC and it’s already all over the ‘net. It couldn’t be any more different from “Born Free” and to be honest, it’s kind of confusing and mildly boring. After “Born Free” (and the video for it) how does she make the jump into a pretty straight forward dance pop number? I mean, I’m all for variety, but “XXXO” is radio ready to the point of being sort of generic. Don’t get me wrong, I have a huge soft spot for pop music and there are some really great things about the track…but it could have easily been released by her arch nemesis Rihanna or another pop “diva”. I guess all I’m saying is it’s not AT ALL what I expected and it sure is catchy. I guess we’ll see what else she has in store on July 6th.

What do you guys think?

Shunda K is here to save the world

Last time we saw Shunda K she was riding a pink lawnmower through a SSIONed out landscape with tripping Wizard of Oz characters in Peaches’ Billionaire video. Now she’s back with a brand new song from her upcoming album The Most Wanted on Fanatic Records. “Here I Am To Save The World” features Shunda’s fast paced delivery over a fuzzy dance beat (produced by Electrosexual and Chicago’s Chrissy Murderbot) with guest verses from Cindy Wonderful from queer electro rap group Scream Club. If this first single is any indication of the style of the rest of the record, it’s gonna be a good one!

Check out the album version of “Here I Am To Save The World” and look for the maxi single featuring remixes from Scripts ‘N Screwz, Nite Club, and The New Loud on July 27th.

Written On The Body

Lesbian literary inspired mix alert!

Written on the Body by Jeanette Winterson is a masterful work on the subject of love and loss. She, through the unnamed and ungendered narrator, navigates the world of the missing while exploring the central theme “Why is the measure of love loss?” as the first page asks.
If you haven’t read it, I command you to! It’s beautifully written and vividly explores emotions that even the coldest of hearts can warm up to. However, if you’re not the reading type, go ahead and feel like a new queer again and enjoy this mix inspired by the story!
